  • Post-Seizure Total Amnesia
    An epileptic condition can appear at any time of life, although it is usually caused by childhood injuries or conditions. Diagnosed epileptics display different types of seizures. There are three main categories: Simple Partial seizure, Complex Partial, and Generalized Tonic-Clonic, known as "Grande Mal", French for "large illness". The third type is the big problem – it can erase the memory.

When I tell people of my bout with amnesia caused by an epileptic seizure, they ask if it was frightening to have no memory. They assume that a panic response would be instinctive, but the nervous system’s built-up chronic stress disappears along with all past events.
