Wrinkle Creams: Not Just for Old Ladies

By: Jen Hopkins

The words "wrinkle cream" tend to make some people frown; they've made the mistake of thinking that such a cream is only for an old person. What most people don't expect is that if a person begins a good skin care program in their mid twenties or thirties and includes the use of an effective wrinkle cream, they can help to keep wrinkles from happening when they get older.
When you begin your quest for the perfect anti wrinkle cream, whether you look for on line referrals, read magazines or talk to your dermatologist, remember to consider first what state your skin is currently in. When you read others' opinions of a wrinkle cream, they will always talk about its suitability for different types of skin; oily, acne-affected, dry or combination.
If your skin is oily, and if you have suffered with breakouts, stay away from heavier-type wrinkle creams that might already contain ingredients like mineral oil or baby oil. Whatever cream you decide to buy should not have any added oils, and it should be recommended for those with skin that easily develops acne. Try to find one with a label that states: "For Acne-Prone Skin."
Those of us with dry skin need a heavier cream both for night and for day. Since someone with dry skin has a greater chance of developing early wrinkles and age spots, they need to include wrinkle creams into their skin care program at an earlier time of their lives.
People with combination type skin, that often have dry cheeks and some oiliness on their face's T-zone, will have no problem finding online reviews of wrinkle creams for their skin type, as most people have this kind of skin. Those with combination type skin should use wrinkle creams sparingly, around their eyes or on their dry areas.
Look for products that contain exfoliating ingredients such as alpha-hydroxy acids or natural citrus ingredients. The best wrinkle creams are free of harsh dyes and fragrances, and cater to people with sensitive skin. It is important to note your reaction to the wrinkle cream and start by applying the cream just a couple times a week until your skin gets used to the change.
If you've chosen the right wrinkle cream, it will definitely not sting your face, and it will have a luxurious, gentle feeling. If your use of a cream irritates your skin, stop using it right away, and wash it off with some water. Be careful that the cream doesn't get into your eyes. Internet forums and print magazines will help you find out how the product feels and what is its consistency, as well as how to treat your skin if you have an adverse reaction to a cream.
Start early with the wrinkle cream that suits you best, and your skin may be able to avoid some age-related skin problems. For greater protection, don't forget to use a sunscreen with the highest possible SPF rating. Remember that if you are careful with your skin now, and pamper and protect it, the more happy and healthy you and skin can be tomorrow!
