Aluminum Baseball Bats vs Wood Baseball Bats
What possible advantages are there with baseball bats made from aluminum? What benefits are there with a wood bat? These are questions that most baseball players really ought to take a look at when they are getting a new baseballor softball bat. In this article, the differences will be described so you will be able to make the decision yourself.
A disadvantage of A bat made of aluminum is that the bat's weight has a more uniform distribution. There isn't as much mass in the bat's barrel and this makes the bat have a less sufficient collision with the baseball. The ball will typically leave the bat more quickly with a heavier bat than it does with a light bat. Only the barrel has an effect on turning the baseball around andpropelling the ball back at a high rate of speed. The aluminum bat's barrel can't have the same effect as the wooden bat does. The aluminum baseball bat also tends to compress when the ball collides with the bat. This effect slows down the ball as it is released from the bat. Wooden bats will not compress, however, the ball will compress and loses more energy than an aluminum baseball bat.
One of the benefits of an aluminum bat is that the bat is able to be a lot more forgiving. Batters still will make contact with the ball and get a hit that is decent. If the ball is hit too close to the handle with a wooden bat, the bat can break. This makes an aluminum baseball bat a lot better for inside pitches. A great deal of college baseballplayers have a hard time transitioning to the big leagues, as in college they use aluminum bats almost exclusively. Professional baseball bats are all wooden and as a result, players have a difficult timegetting comfortable with the weight.
Wood bats are solid, while the aluminum bat is hollow. This is particularly important as it changes the weight and the center of gravity for the bat. For a wood bat, in order to make it fatter or longer, the bat must also weigh more. For an aluminum bat, the shell can be made more thinly so the baseball bat doesn't have to be as heavy. Because of this, a bat made from aluminum is more flexible and offers people a lot more choices without having to get a bat that is so heavy.
Because the wood bat is solid, a good deal of the weight distribution is in the barrel. What this means is that the center of gravity is further from the hands. Thealuminum baseball bat is much more flexible and as a result, the center of gravity can then be positioned closer to the hands. Because the center of gravity is not as far away from the hands, the aluminum baseball bat can have a lower swing weight. The bat itself, however, may weigh just as much as a wood baseball bat. The aluminum bat is capable of having a swing weight that's lower, because the weight of the bat is closer to the hands. What that will do is make the bat easier to swing versus the weight and center of gravity being further from the hands as it is in a wood bat. Because the baseball bat is easier to swing, the player can have a bat swing that's faster which will result in the ball coming off the bat faster and more quickly. This is a definite benefit that the aluminum bat has over a wooden one.
