If you've long admired wine connoisseurs on television that can identify a wine's age and make with a single sip then wine selling may be just the job for you. This is a good start because it means handling, even tasting several wines and familiarizing yourself with them. This experience will be the first steps to expertise in all things intoxicating. Those in the wine business commonly utilize three types of selling techniques: direct or in-store wine sales, telemarketing and on line sales. These methods have their own respective advantages and disadvantages so a little bit of all three is needed for successful forays in the business. In store sales involve the seller personally assisting the customer to find exactly the right wine for him or her. But the tricky part is that the seller should first have in depth knowledge of wine selling, which would include knowledge of the process of wine making and the factors induced by age, brand and even taste. Therefore a lot of experience is needed for this method to work. Wine sales are also done over the phone, especially in large quantities. The leads can be gathered by asking current customers for their number or even for a referral. A wine sales person may even contact high end restaurants and hotels to offer wine supply. Phone wine sales can be used as a tool to inform frequent customers of the arrival of new wines. The wine sales person can also invite the customer to come to the store for wine tastings. Most wine sellers also advertise or sell their wine online. Wine retailers generally have a personal website where the prospective customer can take a look at their products. This method can be very effective. Wines can be ordered on the Internet with a credit card and delivered to the customer's registered address.
