Why Organic Baby Clothes are the Way Forward

By: Trevor Sinclair

Organic clothing, including organic baby clothes, are better for the environment, for personal health, and for guaranteeing the future of our planet. Using 100% organic baby products like organic baby clothes, organic baby toys and organic baby skincare products when you are buying for your little one is the greatest act that we can do for him or her, for their continued health today and for their continued health throughout their lives.
The majority of people buy manmade non-organic clothing. Recently it has been found that a lot of breathing problems, skin conditions, and allergic reactions are at a high around the world. And also, through the production of non-organic materials, we have damaged the environment to the point of disaster. We are finding out, through time and experimentation, that the methods in which our consumables and clothing are manufactured is harmful for our planet and for our personal health.
Almost all of the material we wear needs massive amounts of pesticides to produce. These pesticides can be harmful when they are in contact with our skin and definitely harmful to Earth as a whole. Polyester, a fibre which is found in so much of the clothing and bedding we purchase, is especially harmful. It contains chemicals called phthalates, which have been linked to different types of cancers in recent years.
Naturally, cotton and other organic fibres is the choice when making organic baby clothing. Cotton is a unique fibre for making organic baby clothes. It cleans without fuss, draws away moisture from our skin, and also is fully hypoallergenic. It is recommended to put your new baby in organic baby clothes that include cotton.
Nevertheless, you will have to be very, very careful about the cotton you purchase. Since cotton is a big crop, producers over the years have experimented to discover better ways to grow and collect it, but have been lax on giving thought to how safe their methods are.
Approximately 23% of the world's pesticides are used solely on the production of cotton. As the cotton grows, it stores a little of these pesticides, which are then moved to your baby's skin as they touch cotton clothing. Now people have come to see just how damaging pesticides and many man-made materials are, manufacturers are looking towards incorporating organic materials to produce their organic baby clothes. Public outcry for organic clothing is at an all time high, and many large material businesses are rushing to fill in the gaps.
