Time and money in the bank

By: Sarah Maple-11606

I don’t mean to gripe but be it the road works or the weather, there always seems to be something to slow you down. It got so bad that I had no time in the morning to make my sandwiches and what not. Then on top of that, petrol prices started to rise faster than flood waters through York.

Dont get me wrong, it’s good that Manchester is a buzzing city with loads going on, and I’m not one to have a mardy but commuting was getting beyond a joke. That’s when I started to use my noggin as my dad might say, now all those troubles are history. I decided I wanted a local job, somewhere nearby, and I set out to find it. Mind you, it was certainly no breeze at first.

Jobs in Manchester are not so hard to find, if you don’t mind spending a small fortune and half your day schlepping around on busy busses. Local jobs are hard to find, especially decent local jobs.

I’d been on the lookout for local jobs in Manchester since our Adam was just a baby, but I was having less luck than a seasick ship cat. I checked the local papers regularly, but nothing that suited was coming up. I was getting tired with the whole thing and was in the mood to wrangle a couple of sick days from my current job so as I could catch my breath. All I seemed to do was work and travel to and from work.

Then a neighbour from round our way told me to have look on the Internet. she said, if you type in ‘local jobs in Manchester’ you’ll find websites dedicated to helping local people find local jobs. At first I thought it was a bit of a barnpot idea but I tried it, and you know what, she was right!

It wasn’t hard, either. I Just made myself a nice cuppa, sat down in front of computer and typed away. It was nice to be in the comfort of my own living room instead of wandering around town in the rain with some soggy CV’s.

It didn’t take long once I’d got into the rythm of things. I soon found a top notch website with loads of local jobs in Manchester. Now I’m saving time and money, meaning come the weekend I’ll have both the energy and the brass to take myself on holliday this year, or even out to the new local gastro instead of sitting in with fish and chips. Marvelous blooming marvelous I say.
