The Emotions Behind Pool Ownership

By: Gunter Walderon

Like many others, you may think that you make decisions logically. But research indicates that many decisions are made under the spell of emotion. Some recognize the important role that emotions play in all decisions. If you don't believe this to be true, remember the last commercial you saw on television for a car. Although gas mileage and safety features are important concepts of car purchasing, the marketers seem to agree that the ability to ride very fast and look cool at the same time is more important. It is very obvious that the ad was developed to tempt a viewer's emotions rather than their logic.

Building a pool on your property, now that's a big decision. Since you know your emotions will play a part in the decision, here are a few good common emotional reasons to have a pool.

Some people consider owning a pool to play a part in helping them climb the social ladder of their community. Whether they swim or not, a pool is important to fit in with neighborhood community and to develop social or business relationships. "Pride of ownership" is not a thing to think poorly of because taking "Pride of ownership" is key to keeping broken cars out of yards and keeping nice looking lawns.

Some think of a pool as an emotional oasis and an escape from the everyday stresses of life. The softly lapping water brings serenity, making the return home every evening feel like stepping into a luxurious spa. For some individuals, owning a pool is fundamental to their everyday psychological well being.

Social butterflies consider a pool a crucial element in attracting people to their home for a party or gathering. Hawaiian Luaus, Mexican Fiestas, and Beach Parties are just a few of the themes that could be used for a pool party. There are countless enjoyable ways to entertain guests when you own a pool.

In the hot, summer months, parents believe a refreshing pool is essential to keeping the kids entertained. Children can expend their seemingly endless supply of energy playing games in a pool. Owning a pool at their home allows many parents the opportunity to monitor safety aspects and increase feelings of confidence that their child is safe while enjoying the pool.

These factors motivate many homeowners to have a swimming pool built on their property. Be sure to use good judgment and reason when making such an emotional and psychological decision. In Sacramento in 2006, a scandal involving a pool company served as a warning to those considering a pool. The experience left many homeowners wishing they had researched the company before signing a contract, especially after they were left with faulty or incomplete pools. A renowned and trust worthy company should be hired and references should be actually contacted. Confirm the organization's position with the Contractors License Board of their state.

Judge the research beforehand and be sure that the emotional satisfaction you’re seeking can be turned into reality. A company worth using will encourage you to do your research because they will have nothing to fear and want you to be happy more than anything else.

Have a great time swimming!
