It would be tough to imagine a childhood without the magic that Walt Disney had created. His legacy lives on in the form of new and exciting works of art his company continues to produce. But among them all, a few shining stars in the rough stand out among the rest- and likewise have importance in watching.
The 1990's brought many good movies for Disney, but few could stand up to the blockbuster hit The Lion King. The Lion King was a story set in the animal kingdom, in which aspects of death, social class, and relationships were taught along a very appealing plot. But it wasn't just a good plot that made the movie- the art in the film was rivaled by few.
Going back further into history, another epic cartoon was created by the name of The Fox And The Hound. This movie was the first real "tear jerker" that inspired many to rethink how a cartoon could make them feel. The setting of the movie showed a loving relationship between a fox and a hound, whereas they grew up and took separate roles. In their separate roles, tragedy and grief strikes as time goes on. The storyline of this one is even on par with The Lion King.
Finding Nemo may not have been a nostalgic classic, but it wins merit with the fact that it has such a fun and entertaining storyline. Also the fact that the entire movie was made in a very stunning 3D world gives quite a bit of credit to the makers of the film. Like most Disney movies, Finding Nemo had a cult following of younger audiences- and still does to date.
Not every movie from Disney was targeted towards kids. The movie Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl was famed for its intriguing plot and atmosphere. Although many will say it was worth watching just for leading actor Johnny Depp, the storyline was indeed intriguing enough to keep one on the edge of his or her chair. It was so popular, in fact, that it spawned a sequel in coming years.
Disney fans that liked Finding Nemo will share the same joy for Cars. Cars is a newer film just like Finding Nemo, but has the same intriguing storyline and cute and entertaining atmosphere to love. Cars has the same following that Finding Nemo, although its popularity has outdone its predecessor in winning the hearts of young audiences. Adults too, however, will enjoy this classic.
Final Thoughts
There are way too many options in classic Disney movies to consider, by far too many for discussing in such a short amount of time. But before exploring classics such as Fantasia or Toy Story, be sure to take a close look at the previously mentioned works of art- especially if one's children haven't yet explored the beauty of Disney movies.
