Earlier, sending gifts or special objects to distant friends and families was extremely difficult and very time consuming. It used to take days after days for the parcel to be delivered. Sometimes people would wait for other travelling friends or relatives to pass the products. Gradually, the method of delivering parcels improved due to the vast number of companies which started the business of delivering the parcels to the receivers address. This diplomatic service provided by these companies to transfer the parcels from one place to the other is termed as courier services. The time has changed very briskly today. Parcel delivery has become very simple in comparison to the olden days. Today, people can sit at home and order things from the internet. These products get delivered via the courier services provided nearly by all the firms. Also the transferring of goods like furniture, floor coverings etc. have all become extremely simple. Today, parcel delivery is typically subdivided into international and domestic deliveries. Delivering items within the country, example-from one shop to a customer's residence or from one customer to another customer is chiefly called as domestic delivery, while the delivery of goods from one country to another country is known as international parcel delivery. The delivery of goods and the price to be paid for the delivery depends upon the size and the weight of the parcel. The smaller parcels with weight less than 350g are considered along with the letters as their weight is non-distinguishable. The goods with weight over 32 kg are generally termed as freight or pallet. A large number of people still prefer the national courier services over the regional services as the former is more reliable in the timely delivering of the goods. But this problem has been solved as a large number of such private courier services have started. This causes an internal competition amongst all the courier service providers. Hence in the fight for their existence in this business and the competition, the customers are benefited indirectly. The common problems like safety of the products and their delivering time span etc have thus been solved. Also due to the above mentioned reasons the people have now developed a good faith on these courier service providers. The business of providing courier services has boomed in the past few years. It has become an important need for nearly all the small and large, private and government firms. People no longer have to wait for a long time to receive their goods nor do they have to be tensed regarding the safety of their valuables. But there are certain barriers which affect the proper working and the expansion of these courier services. Technical problems like lack of proper equipments, staff, information regarding the region and the costs affect the services and their expansion to other places.
