If you've been over the border by air in the past you know that you could get by with only a birth certificate and driver's license. Whenever someone wants to apply for one of these official government documents there's some things they are going to require. One is an original of their proof of their nationality. For most of us this means a birth certificate. For others it may be their citizenship or immigration documents. In case you misplaced or lost this document, you'll require to replace it first prior to applying for a passport.

You need to have a bit of patience after applying. It does take substantial time for the government to assess your application, print the passport and return it to you. Once you've received it it will be official for a number of years, and when you renew the process is simpler and can be done through the mail.

Most of us do have questions when it comes to applying for and renew this important document. Calling the assigned government branch for passport information is surely the best route to go when you have inquiries, but as with a lot of government offices, set aside some time to be put on hold. With everybody needing a passport, you can only imagine how frequently their telephone rings.
