If you really think about Network Marketing (I mean true Network Marketing, not like all the hypey types of programs out there), you can't help but notice it's spiritual characteristics. There are many parallels to the Christian Faith in true Network Marketing. Here's what I mean: 1. Long term success in Network Marketing demands that you focus on building relationships with those considering your business as well as with your downline. The people who are only interested in having large numbers of people in their businesses, are only interested in meeting their own needs and interests, not their prospects. They are only interested in making money, not helping others. If a person believes that you are truly trying to help them achieve their goals, they will stick with you. 2. Network Marketing is all about producing more of yourself, your time and your money. By helping those in our downlines how to be successful and how to grow their businesses, our businesses grow too and we build a long term income. Whether or not they work, we cannot control, but we can certainly inspire and show them how to build their organizations. Christianity also is all about effectively reproducing our time and resources. Jesus who was the Master, administered to his disciples the task of going out and reproducing more disciples. Isn't that the work we're doing in our organizations? Finding a few good 'workers', teaching them the business of recruiting and building other leaders and continuing to multiply this in our businesses. By teaching and training your downline, you're not doing all the work and your business grows exponentially. What we're doing is creating an environment that gives others the opportunity to become teachers also, and as a result, not only is more of our time freed up, but more and more people in our downlines assume more responsibilities. Training involves knowing what your downline's needs are so that you can supply the need. Where are they encountering problems in building their business? Support them so that they can succeed. That's what Jesus does with those who follow him. He meets their needs by making sure they are armed with all the teaching and spiritual food they need so that they can live a successful holy life. The church also is like this - people go there to learn more about God, to get trained in how to live the holy life in all areas of their lives and for friendship and encouragement. We should be good sponsors and equip them with the right knowledge and skills so that they can effectively build their businesses. On top of good training, our downlines need to be provided with an environment where they are spurred on to higher heights, to achieve greater things and to be recognized and appreciated for their achievements. By doing these things for them, it prospers their businesses, but also, it helps prosper our businesses too. Like it's been said before, "we succeed when we help others succeed." 3. If deep down, you honestly want to create a stable six figure income, with Network Marketing, then it is essential that you have faith and patience as you travel down this road. Many MLMers don't know how to handle rejection well, so they don't do very well with their home based businesses. Rejection comes with the package. Because they don't see results as quickly as they'd like, they quit their businesses and hop on to another opportunity. Growing a successful Network Marketing business requires faith in the process, sprinkled with a lot of patience as it starts to sprout and grow. So what does all this have to do with Network Marketing and spirituality? First, the mark of the Christian Faith is about serving others and truly helping them prosper. It's not about deceiving people so that I get what I want. Of course in Network Marketing we are working to create an income for ourselves, but we have to go about it with the right attitude and spirit. I like to call it servanthood marketing. If we are in Network Marketing just to make money, then our attitudes and actions will reflect that in how we treat our prospects and downlines. People know when we truly care about their success. Second, even Jesus required help in making the gospel widely known. He formed a group of twelve men and trained them on all aspects of the faith so that they could go out and find other follwers of Jesus. Because those twelve men took the message to the world, lived as Jesus taught them and taught others how to follow Jesus too, the gospel has spread like a virus and is known throughout the whole world. There's no difference with Network Marketing. Recruiting 100 people is not necessary to build a large business. If we use wisdom in selecting 5 - 10 people to work closely with, they will all learn the same things and they will teach others how to do the same things so that eventually, we will see movement and growth in our organizations. Creating leadership and multiplying that leadership throughout our organizations just as Jesus did with his twelve leaders is what it's all about. Third, Napoleon Hill and Jesus taught a similar principle which is "you could move mountains if you had faith as small as a mustard seed". There are many books written about the importance of thinking positively. It's very unlikely that we will have any success in Network Marketing if we are thinking negatively. Thinking positively will help you achieve great things. Negative thinking will only destroy your vision and keep you in the rut. I can continue to enumerate the many similarities between Network Marketing and Christianity, but it would take a book to finish it all. It boils down to this: Network Marketing is a people business, we can't do it alone. Creating relationships that will last for the long haul, conducting our businesses in a way that honors and uplifts others and putting others first is what it's all about. It's about offering the best of ourselves others and developing every area of our lives. Without thinking correctly, controlling our self-defeating tendencies and acquiring the proper skills, it is highly unlikely that we will build a successful Network Marketing business. The sky is the limit to what can be achieved. We are always being asked to continue to grow and develop.
