Time management is important in all walks of life and in whichever phase you are in life. A large number of students find out that they have to manage their time and build up or sharpen their Time Management skills when they finally reach college life. When they are in high school it is the teachers who usually allot time and specify deadlines to assignments, and classes are held on a fixed routine. But it is a completely different case in college. Less time and work is spent in classes and more of it is spent outside of classes. There is a large amount of flexibility in the daily schedule as well as complete freedom to do whatever you want. But why do students need to manage their time? The main reasons are that it reduces their stress level¸ increases the time they have on their hands, increases motivation and creates initiative, promotes review, reduces the act of cramming at the last moment, and decreases avoidance. The primary key to manage time successfully and effectively is having an awareness as to what the goals are and how they will help in creating priorities of your respective tasks. The other key is making a schedule of your daily or periodical routine that will be advantageous for you and not others. Creating your own schedule will allow you to add activities in it that you want to do and are important to you.
but the problem is that it is not so easy to maintain a balance between studying and other activities which are going on at the same time, for example extra curricular activities and the activities during examination weeks. Sometimes it feels like everything is happening at the same time and it gets very difficult to handle the hectic routine and schedule you have made for your self. A college student has comparatively less time to do the things he used to do while he was in school, such as spending time friends. This can be very wearisome and can result in getting bored with studying. But if a student knows how to balance and manage his time effectively, it can be very advantageous to him. He can then carry out his school activities as well as spend time with his friends.
The most frantic time a student has is during his examination period. The student has to spend most of his time studying and poring into books. But there are other activities which have to be performed as well such as eating, buying daily provisions, etc. managing time does not meet increasing the time spent on studying and decreasing time spent on other activities, but in fact it means balancing both of them and set priorities according to importance.
