There are so many things that are great about buying a two wheel motor bike and taking to the road for fun or even for your every day transportation. A motorcycle puts you out there in the environment and you feel the road, feel the breeze, and most of all feel free and alive.
When you adapt to the motorcycle lifestyle you need to get some new gear, of course, but as you ride longer and longer, some of it gets to be like an old friend. When you break in your leathers and footgear, they only become better and better to wear. My old motorcycle boots feel great, because they now fit my feet like a glove.
You need to be very careful in selecting a pair of shoes for yourself and that too from the starting itself. Don't go by the looks alone. Your footwear must be durable and give full support to your feet. Last but not the least you should feel comfortable wearing them even on rough surfaces.
When first purchased, a boot tends to be pretty stiff because the leather is pretty thick and it will need to be broken in longer than a lot of other kinds of shoes. That means wearing them around the house or wherever you can and not just when riding because that would take forever. They should not hurt when you first get them, though.
The process of breaking in your boots can be accelerated by a quality leather treatment product, which will make them more supple. You should also buy a pair of high quality riding socks. Normal use socks are often poorly designed for riding, and if you use them you may develop raw spots and blisters. Sometimes these blisters can be so painful that you will not even be able to ride your motorcycle.
The best way to prevent blisters when breaking in shoes is a good pair of thick socks. You can find them at sporting goods stores - look for socks meant to wear with boots and expect to pay more than you would for regular athletic socks. You should buy two or three pair, but if you are on a budget, start with one and add more later. If you do wind up with a blister, don't open it. Instead, cover with a padded bandage.
Once you break in your motorcycle boots, they will be great to wear. They give both protection and support, and even give you a sense of strength and energy. With the proper care they can also continue to look as good as they feel, and it is very likely that you will repair them when needed rather than replace them. As they get to the point where they do need to be replace, you should buy a new pair and break them in gradually first, this makes the transition smoother.
