Are you sick and tired of listening to people who claim they've discovered how to get rid of belly fat, only to have your stomach look more like a spare tire than a six-pack? Well, it's no wonder because much of the advice being given these days is just plain wrong.
The problem is that many people think that ripped abs are the result of targeted exercise, and that's just not true. There is simply no way that you are going to lose belly fat quick and end up with a washboard stomach like Taye Diggs by doing nothing more than crunches and pumping iron every day.
Of course, exercise is a major factor in getting the sculpted abs of your dreams. Your abs muscles certainly aren't going to sculpt themselves. It's just that exercise is only one half of the equation, and if you leave out the other half, eating a proper diet, then you will never have chiseled abs.
Instead of obsessing over the number of sets you did in the gym today, or how many hundreds of crunches you think you have to do tonight, you really need to focus on the amount of calories you are consuming on a daily basis.
Even some of the most dedicated muscle heads think that you can eat whatever kinds of food you want without it negatively impacting you, so as long as you burn it all off by working out. But this is simply not true.
Your body needs very specific, high-quality calories (certain proteins, carbs, fats and fibers) to perform the way it's supposed to. When you fill your body with empty calories from junk food, your body still operates, but its performance is compromised, and it becomes susceptible to damage. Your energy level drops, you get tired faster and it's easier to injure yourself. It becomes harder to turn your workouts into muscle gain.
Even if you are not operating on a calorie deficit, and you're eating enough to keep up your strength, consuming empty calories is counter-productive. Sure, you'll have the energy to maximize your workouts and build chiseled abs, but those abs will be trapped beneath under a bunch of fat. What's the point of having six-pack abs if they're buried under a spare tire of fat?
Start learning about the kinds of food your body needs, and what types of food to avoid in order to lose belly fat quick. Understanding and maintaining proper nutrition is key to knowing how to get rid of belly fat and building a washboard stomach.
The secret to knowing how to get rid of belly fat really is knowing that a healthy diet really is just as important as proper exercise. So if you really want to have chiseled, six-pack abs like a Calvin Klein underwear model, then you better start eating healthy right now.
