Usually Weight Training differs from other similar disciplines like bodybuilding and weight lifting, because they are sports and not forms of exercise. Weight training is used by athletes as a routine or regime to acquire body tone, mass muscles and strength.
Muscle building weight training is a type of strength training. Applying these types of exercises will increase muscular strength and size instead of muscular endurance and flexibleness that different disciplines are concentrated on, like aerobics, yoga and pilates.
For example, Body Building Workouts are some of the most misunderstood methods in the sports industry for getting lean muscle mass and natural strength. They usually involve push-ups, pull-ups and dips, but those are not workouts for getting mass muscle. If you want to get mass muscle like the professionals, you have to know first the different types of weight training exercises.
Resistance Training
Whilst weight training experiences its resistance at the initial movement of the body when the muscle creates a heavy effort to get over weight mass, resistance training implies use of hydraulic resistance to contraction instead of graveness. Hydraulic resistance provides an equal measure of resistance throughout the movement
An isolation exercise is when the movement only uses one joint and a single group of muscles. An example of this is the leg extension, which is an isolation exercise of the quadriceps. This requires the use of very advance equipment to make sure that the muscle groups are not involved. The movements occur only on the knee joint.
When you work several muscle groups at the same time you are using compound exercises and involve movements on more than 1 joint. A leg press is a perfect example of this, where movement occurs around the hip and knee. Although primarily used for quadriceps, this exercise also involves hamstrings and calves.
As you have seen there are different kinds of weight training exercises, but you should focus on what works for you and what you want to accomplish. You should follow a training guide or consult an expert
