LOST's Evangeline Lilly Making her Big Screen Debut

By: Groshan Fabiola

Good news for Evangeline Lilly fans! Now, avid supporters can gaze at a different kind of Lilly apart from her "torn between two lovers" character on Lost. She is set to star in the thriller movie entitled Afterwards. The said film is actually Lilly’s feature debut, though she has been offered numerous high profile roles in the past.

Afterwards is a supernatural screenplay based on the Guillaume Musso novel entitled "Et après…." It showcases Duris as a workaholic lawyer drifting away from his ex-wife (Lilly) and her daughter. To add mystique and ambiguity to the plot, he meets a mysterious doctor (Malkovich) who claims to have the power to foresee people’s deaths.

Joining her in Afterwards are John Malkovich, a 54-year old actor who previously appeared in films like Shadow of the Vampire, The Man in the Iron Mask, Con Air and Empire of the Sun, and Romain Duris, a 32-year old French actor. Fidelite Films and Christal Films Prods will produce the upcoming movie, which will be directed by Gilles Bourdos.

Lilly is the latest Lost cast member who has ventured into film, joining costar Matthew Fox, who plays Dr. Jack Shephard, and Naveen Andrews, who plays Sayid Jarrah on Lost, in the bandwagon. While this all seems like positive news, one question arises; will Lilly’s movie be a flop?

Unfortunately, many speculate that there seems to be a "curse" on Lost stars that venture into the big screen, evident in the fate of Fox and Andrews’

attempt to make it big in the movie industry.

Lily, a 27-year Canadian actress, is currently playing Katherine "Kate"

Austen on Lost. Prior to her inclusion on Lost, she served as a foreign missionary in the Philippines. She also studied international relations at the University of British Columbia. Eventually, she went into modeling but was more inclined to acting. Her acting credits included Smallville, Kingdom Hospital, Tru Calling, Judgment Day, The Long Weekend, and Freddy vs. Jason.
