The matter which Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight consider so important about this case is that the District of Columbia claimed it had the right to restrict citizens from possessing firearms in their own homes. According to the law, handguns were illegal, even in the privacy of one's own home. While Ignatius Piazza can occasionally see the reasoning behind some gun laws when a citizen is in public, according to him, no government has the right to tell an individual how he may or may not defend his own home.
To listen to Ignatius Piazza, Front Sight or any of their many students, one would get the impression that guns are more than just a weapon - they're a tool. And just like any other tool, they can be used properly or improperly. And just like a car or a set of knives, says Ignatius Piazza, they can be extremely dangerous if the user is not trained.
