Ignatius Piazza has recently turned his attentions to legislators, both at the federal and state level, to see what they will do with the U.S. Supreme Court's upcoming decision on the constitutionality of a ban on sidearms in Washington, D.C. Ignatius Piazza is the founder and director of the nation's largest firearms training academy, Front Sight Firearms Training Institute. Front Sight trains more students annually than all other major shooting schools in the nation combined. Ignatius Piazza himself, a former chiropractor from California, is a Four Weapons Combat Master, a copyrighted certification issued only to those who can pass a firearms training test of the highest caliber. To date, very few individuals have ever successfully passed the test, despite being published for decades. At the time of his passing it, Ignatius Piazza was the second man to ever do so.
Ignatius Piazza's attention is going where the rest of the nation's attention should be going: to the legislators and judges. After the U.S. Supreme Court rules on this case, and most conjecture is that they will find the ban unconstitutional, law makers will be scrambling to do one of two things: write more and more stringent laws on firearms, or write more and more lax laws on firearms. Ignatius Piazza, and all of Front Sight - students, instructors and staff alike - contends that the latter is the far more logical course of action.
Ignatius Piazza is obviously of the opinion that gun training and firearms training makes for safer gun users and firearms handlers. At Front Sight, he trains individuals to the utmost level of professionalism and responsibility. Ignatius Piazza's success with Front Sight lies in his decision to make Front Sight not a place where an individual can learn to hit a clay pigeon or a paper or steel target, but where a citizen can acquire the tools necessary to keep his family and loved ones safe should a dangerous situation ever arise.
Knowing full well the rate of violent crime in the country, Ignatius Piazza took it upon himself to found Front Sight with the ideals of responsibility, duty to serve and exchange in abundance. As such, he expects every student who comes to him to not only walk away with more than they expected to receive, but to walk away more responsible, more able and more efficient than they had thought possible.
Because he finds himself at an origination point of responsibility and knowledge, Ignatius Piazza takes it upon himself to keep himself informed of what goes on in the firearms training industry and also bequeath that knowledge to his students. As such, Ignatius Piazza has been paying close attention to the District of Columbia v. Heller case in consideration by the U.S. Supreme Court right now.
Front Sight thrives on the right of Americans to possess firearms. The District of Columbia has tried to restrict that altogether - their bylaw prohibits any sidearms or firearms of any sort. This is a stupidly dangerous idea that could never hope to prevent crime or murder. Ignatius Piazza, Front Sight and millions of right-thinking Americans understand this - and they all encourage and look to legislators to realize just that, and to take appropriate actions after the ruling of the U.S. Supreme Court.
