How to Have The Perfect First Date

By:

It's always a nerve-racking experience asking someone out for the first date. Whether you've known them for years or just met them for the first time, you're bound to be nervous and full of pre-date jitters. But don't sweat it; your date is feeling the same way, which means you're both in the same boat!

If you're thinking about asking someone out on a first date or have already made the big move by asking, here are a few tips on how to arrange the perfect first date.

The Question

If you're thinking of asking someone out for the first time, don't hesitate. Confidence is attractive and you can capitalize on this simple fact by being bold. The worst that can happen is they refuse, which means you're still in the game. However, if you don't ask, you'll never know what could have been.

Pre-date Prep Work

Instead of a perfect first date, you'll have a disastrous one, if you don't do the necessary prep work. Shave, wear clean unwrinkled clothing and make yourself as presentable as can be. And for the love of all that's holy...don't bathe in cologne or perfume! If you're picking him or her up, make sure you take a few minutes to clean up your vehicle. Presentation is important.

The Date

Make sure you take your date somewhere that allows for conversation. The whole point to a first date is to get to know the other person. You want to feel if there is any chemistry and potential for a long-term relationship.

If you're a man who's asked a woman out on a date, be polite, relax and be a gentleman. Open doors for your date, pull out her chair and if the situation allows for it, come bearing chocolate or a small bouquet of flowers. Men and women want a mate who will treat them properly, and by doing these things you're showing her you're capable of doing so.

During the date, try and get them to talk about themselves. Ask questions, show interest in them, and you'll be much better off. Afterwards, your date will realize that she or he knows next to nothing about you, which invites a second date, if only to unravel the mystery that is you.

Fast Forward to the End

Assuming that you've just experienced a perfect first date, you need to end it with a bang. Tell them how much fun you've had, and that you'd like to see them again. Smile, lean towards them and plant an affectionate, but fleeting kiss on their cheek. Hopefully, this kiss will leave them wanting more. Under no circumstances should you expect more on your first date, perfect or otherwise.

Say goodnight, pat yourself on the back and start planning for a second date. After all, you've just treated them to the perfect first date, so it's only a matter of time before you go out on a second and a third!
