How To Talk Yourself Into Total Confidence Through Hypnosis

By: Alan B. Densky, CH

Self-confidence can be defined as the capacity to believe in oneself and one's gifts. This attribute is essential to an individual's successes during one's lifetime. This ability assists people to understand in their self-worth and that they are capable of succeeding in their actions. Even persons who lack this attribute can begin to boost their self confidence.

Without this quality, the majority of people find themselves powerless to realize life dreams. They are often ineffective in relationships, academic endeavors, and job settings. They frequently develop a social phobia, and become awkward in social encounters. People who lack self-confidence may hesitate to work to set or work toward goal achievement; these people become convinced that they are about to fail. They become sure that they are not as good or as capable as the people around them. They typically do fail because they do not trust themselves.

In comparison, the person who is successful in gaining self confidence will be able to reverse this cycle of despair and be able to find healing from this social phobia. This person will find that building self confidence results in amazing improvements in relationships and academic achievements. At times, an employment prospect may be a product of actions taken to boost self-confidence.

People might fail to build self-confidence for a variety of reasons. They might have had domineering parents, or been teased often in school. Many struggled educationally or socially. Others just had difficulty making friends or encounter the positive support of peers, parents, or teachers. Frequently, these people fight against a self-perception of inadequacy and uselessness.

Frequently, people who were not able to build self confidence as children have difficulty building self confidence as adults. They have not learned how to accomplish this, and usually learn only when they look for the assistance and support of friends or professional counselors. Too often, people do not want to admit these difficulties in their lives, and instead continue to strive during their lifetimes.

A number of treatments can be used to help people to gain self confidence. Quite a few types of counseling strategies, including behavioral therapy or group therapy, are employed to teach clients how to improve self confidence. Countless self-help guides have been published to encourage clients to boost self-confidence. Professionals provide instructional sessions and retreats developed to help people increase self confidence.

While each of these methods are sometimes beneficial, two innovative approaches that are not difficult to learn and quite effective for the majority of clients who try them are confidence hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). Experts who use confidence hypnosis are typically able to coach clients to develop self confidence and radically upgrade both their outlooks and their chances to achieve in life.

Classic hypnosis (employing post-hypnotic suggestions) can be very effective. This approach is best for people who are suggestible and easily directed. This treatment typically does not work as well for clients who tend to be analytical or think critically.

For individuals who fit the latter group, Ericksonian hypnosis and NLP approaches work much better. These tools are great for effectively relating to the subconscious mind. This occurs because the resistance typically offered by analytical persons to suggestiveness is bypassed.

One of the NLP techniques that clients are often taught to build self confidence is called anchoring. If a person encounters a song from the past, and experiences feelings of deja vu, it's because the subconscious associates the feelings from a past time, with the lyrics of the song was playing. Therefore, hearing the song again triggers the memories related to it. The song anchors those emotions.

Through anchoring, clients are regressed to a time that allowed them to experience the feelings of confidence. When they remember and relive those feelings, they learn to touch two fingers together. The subconscious then connects the recollections of self-confidence with this physical action.

After anchoring the feelings of confidence, on those occasions that require self-confidence, touching the fingers together triggers emotions of confidence for use in the present situation.

Another NLP technique called the "Flash" can be used to immediately replace painful feelings frequently low self-confidence. With the Flash, the mind diverts the mental images that create a negative feeling, to trigger visual pictures to create a good emotion.

For instance, the client programs the subconscious to employ the visual cues that cause emotions of uncertainty, as triggers for visual cues that precipitate feelings of self-confidence. Mental images trigger an individual's emotions.

We all have goals, and desires. A number of people can strive toward these to accomplish their aspirations. Sometimes, however, people permit their lack of self-confidence to overwhelm them. Even though NLP does not help everyone, the vast majority of clients who try this approach report great success in building self confidence. This strategy is actually much more successful than other techniques for most people.

Summary: People who do not have self-confidence typically may struggle with failure in most areas of life. A number of components cause persons to acquire social phobias or issues with incompetence. Several strategies can help clients to build self-confidence. NLP is well-known to be very beneficial by the majority of clients who have used this approach.
