Guide To Dating On The Web Without Getting Tangled In One

By: Richard T. Kessinger

Online dating has been proven to be one of the least hazardous ways to meet new people in our society. There are some general rules you should follow, however, to enhance the safety of the experience. They include waiting at least two weeks before giving the person your phone number, talking on the phone prior to a face-to-face meeting, having the first meeting in a public place, watching for date rape drugs if drinking, not sharing personal information too freely, and always telling the truth.
Online dating is perhaps the safest way to meet individuals right now. You are assured of remaining anonymous until you feel you are ready to take the next step. However there are some do's and don'ts to online dating you should follow:
#1. Do not give anyone your telephone number right away. You should wait at least a few weeks to a month so that you have a better idea of the kind of person you've met.
Second, make sure that you talk with the person before you take the next step to meet them in a very public place. It is amazing how much you can learn by talking to a person on the phone to determine if they are trustworthy or of good character.
Third point stresses that it's better to meet the person in a public place. Make sure the other person isn't picking you up or following you to your place after the first date ends.
#4. If you decide to drink, keep your glass in view the entire time. While most people are nice, there are bad people who may use online dating to prey on you. You can't be too careful when meeting people you first met through online dating. However, it's important to remember that most people are using the dating service for the same reasons you are - to find companionship and a partner.
The fifth point stresses on the significance of being open honest with the one you're conversing with. You might hesitate to share certain stuffs with the other person in the very beginning itself. It's better to explain the person the reason behind your hesitation rather than beating around the bush.
#6. Your profile should be completely truthful. Include a recent photograph with a thorough written description of yourself that is as honest as possible.
Online dating is a resource you can have fun with, but be careful.
