By: CECILL ARTATES

Pain is basically a feeling of discomfort that signals actual or potential injury to the body. Perception plays a major role in the degree of pain felt, it gives us the location, intensity and can give us something of its nature. Pain can further be defined by emotional response and unconscious responses to both sensation and perception. If you think it is going to hurt, it probably will. You have subconsciously told your body that what is going to happen is going to hurt and your body will respond to that. No one wants to suffer from pain, especially when it is debilitating to our normal functions.
Pain affects every individual and and we always seek relief from any pain reliever that might help. There are a lot of pain relievers available that one can easily get over the counter or on numerous pharmacy sites over the Internet. But these medications might have side effects or might have drug interactions that will further harm our bodies.
A recent study showed that pain is the most common reason why people started using natural pain relief as alternatives for pills, tablets, capsules, or hospitalization. Such as the the traditional treatment as acupuncture and the use of herbal medicines.
Nowadays, a lot of people are going back to their roots when medicines did not exist as widely as they do today and they sought herbal remedies. They are like “back ups” to the conventional medicines which can also provide relief with the unwanted side effects. They are another form of therapy that utilizes mother nature to treat illness. It is just one of the many approaches in using plants as a form of medication.
However, there is also a disadvantage of using herbal medicines as a form of treatment. They often take some time to achieve favorable results, while turning into the positive side of it, a person will be assured that there are no chemical compounds that will be introduced in the body and less risk for side effects.
Another form of natural pain relief is Acupuncture. It is an important branch of traditional Oriental medicine that dates back more than 2,000 years ago. This involves piercing the skin with needles to a specific points of the body. Many people have testimonies that Acupuncture benefited them from preventing illness and that their health have improved tremendously. Some patients have claimed that it is effective in treating migraine headaches, arthritic pain and even depression. It can also treat colds and flu, prevent allergies, improve sleep and can relieve insomnia and stress.
Modern research have proven various physiological changes with the use of Acupuncture such as beneficial changes in the body's natural painkillers, anti-inflammatory agents, immune system functions and hormonal activity.
But this method doesn't necessarily mean that it does not have a risk. Unsterilized needles can be detrimental to ones' health. So it is always important to go to a professionals or certified acupuncturist.
Needless to say, herbalist, acupuncturists or traditional medical practitioners work with prevention in mind. They will try to attempt to correct the slightest imperfections in our bodies before they become dangerous health problems. It has always been advised to check with an expert if anyone wants to try these kinds of natural pain relief.
Although this may sound as a worn out piece of advice, we all need to take care of ourselves properly and it's up to us what choices to take to achieve good health, choices such as plants or needles.
