One of the most invigorating combats was showcased on last night’s episode of The Ultimate Fighter. Even though Rob Emerson surrendered to Nate Diaz in the second round of the brawl, both contenders were still deemed as the toughest representatives of both teams. In an interview with BuddyTV, the defeated Emerson shared his sentiments about his UFC experience.
Emerson, a native of Newport Beach, California, weighs 155 pounds and stands at 5 feet, 10 inches. He first got exposed to kyokushinkia karate when he was 11 years old and eventually became an active member of Dana Hills High School’s wrestling team. Apart from his involvement with The Ultimate Fighter 5, he is also affiliated with No Limits.
When Emerson first entered the house, the only familiar name he knew was Diaz’s. Quite ironic since he ended up fighting and getting defeated by the infamous fighter. Nevertheless, he highly anticipated the "Nate versus Rob"
match since no one really wanted to fight with either one of them from both teams.
Emerson’s defeat was very disappointing yet it left him with a lot of respect for his opponent Diaz. He also attributes his defeat significantly on his high opinion of Diaz. In fact, prior to his match, he already considered Diaz to be a great jujitsu fighter, which hindered Emerson to maximize his potential fight moves during the actual battle.
As for the battle itself, Emerson is pleased that many, including the president of UFC Dana White, consider his fight with Diaz as the best fight in UFC. Although he stressed that the fight had a lot of action and intensity, he said that were far more gruesome and bloodier battles in the past. He also encouraged avid fans to continue watching UFC despite his elimination, though he wished he could’ve stayed longer on the show.
