Efficient Methods Of Treatment For Congestive Heart Failure And Depression

By: Alan B. Densky, CH

Congestive heart failure, or CHF, is one of the most common chronic health problems in America. Almost five million people suffer from this condition, and 500,000 others are diagnosed with CHF every year. This condition can be mild, or it can become quite severe and impair daily living.

Persons with CHF experience numerous deviations from their previous daily activities. They have to take medicines to lessen fluid accumulation and to lessen the work performed by their heart muscle. Many of these cause anxiety and exhaustion. These medications can also impair physical relationships with a life partner.

One other struggle that persons with this disease face is the need for major diet changes. Many have to quit eating beef, avoid meals with a lot of fat or sodium, or restrict the amount of fluids they drink every day. They are instructed to diet and exercise to stay as healthy as they can.

The truth is, however, persons with CHF do not have as much physical endurance as before. Instead, they have to stand by while friends and family members play volleyball, run, or work out. This leads to despair and loneliness. Furthermore, many victims grieve losing of physical health and energy.

The majority of patients who encounter this and are not yet of retirement age must also quit working. As well as creating money problems and anxiety, this may increase feelings of isolation and seclusion. They are completely alone. Instead of chatting with the person at the next desk, they stare at the television while their friends continue their live.

Occasionally, patients take depression or anxiety medicines to manage these losses. Alternatively, people may choose psychotherapy or group therapy to help them with fulfilling socialization needs and processing the mourning created through their newly changed lives.

A healthier method of dealing with this form of depression, however, has gained recent attention and achieved practically immediate approval with individuals who have trialed it. Furthermore, unlike medicines or psychotherapy, this approach is quite inexpensive. Clients are able to learn its use without encountering additional money stresses.

This approach, which uses a blend of Ericksonian hypnotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), helps clients to begin to become calm and seek peace and serenity in their daily lives. These techniques help individuals to acknowledge the new limitations in their lives while instructing them to go on living life to the fullest extent that they are able. Even depression that results from medication can be painlessly lessened through the proper use of the methods utilized by hypnotherapy and NLP. Two such approaches are anchoring and the Flash.

Ericksonian Hypnotherapy is usually known as conversational hypnotherapy. It includes methods for providing post-hypnotic ideas embedded in a conversation or metaphor. The positive aspect of this technique is that it eliminates the resistance to directly suggested actions that is almost always included in the use of more traditional forms of hypnosis.

With anchoring, hypnotists and NLP Practitioners teach people to concentrate on positive thoughts and memories where they felt relaxed and in control. As the individual becomes engrossed in these memories, they are able to re-experience those positive feelings. The person then creates a concrete anchor for these feelings by touching two fingers together. The subconscious mind makes a link between the physical touch of these two fingers, and the positive feelings. Afterward, upon encountering an anxiety-producing or upsetting moment, an anchor is elicited through touching together the two fingers, re-creating sensations of peacefulness and tranquility.

The Flash technique is also quite helpful to people who are working to overcome depression. This approach programs the brain to automatically utilize the destructive thoughts that are creating anxiety and depression, as triggers for beneficial perspectives that will create relaxation and tranquility. Over time, clients soon become almost unable to think negative thoughts!

Summary: Persons with CHF often encounter depression as a result of grieving the decline of their physical health and well-being. Other elements that can contribute to depression are medicines and financial stresses. Both Ericksonian Hypnotherapy and NLP provide excellent strategies for helping clients to manage depression without being forced to expend enormous amounts of time and money.
