Basics of Streaming Video

So you finally managed to get your website up and running, and now you want a video added to the site. In fact one of the first things to do if you are considering streaming videos is making your video is easy to access in terms of the bandwidth required. Usually all major streaming videos are in the Adobe Flash format (FLV) or Flash Live Video. Not only are FLV videos easy to stream from a web page, but FLV videos are also considerably smaller in size when compared to other file formats. If you are looking to make an impact without creating a site that is demanding on bandwidth then a video file in FLV format is a good idea.
In addition another thing you can do to make sure that your videos are quick loading, is reduce other multimedia aspects of the page. Make sure that the page has fewer flash and multimedia elements like images etc. By reducing the number of multimedia elements you not only ensure that the video is the centrepiece of the page, but you also make sure the page on a whole loads much faster. A popular method is to upload a video on sites like youtube and then simply create a link to the video on your site. The only problem with using a third party site like youtube is that it redirects users away from your site.
