Antioxidant - What You Must Know About Antioxidant with Natural Astaxanthin

By: Jim Olivero

While medical professionals have seen how antioxidants can benefit human bodies for many years now, a whole new generation of antioxidant substance - Astaxanthin, is being studied and incorporated into a wide variety of skincare and nutritional processes. It's about time you start to pay attention to your pure antioxidant intake?

Antioxidants - the buzz word of modern health talk - have garnered quite a bit of attention as of late. Antioxidant is a body immune system to defense body cells from damage caused by free radical. Free radical itself is a side product from normal oxidation process in cells. An antioxidant is a classification of organic substances, which includes Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, minerals, Zinc, Magnesium, Copper, Carotenoid and falconoid. Antioxidants work to deactivate free radicals, which roam the human body in the form of un-oxidized oxygen molecules or O2.

In 21 century, a new pure antioxidant - natural astaxanthin has been discovered. A research shown that astaxanthin has higher antioxidant potency in comparison to other antioxidants which it's effect is 550 times stronger than Vitamin E, 55 times stronger than ß-carotene, 17 times stronger than grape seed extract, etc.

Astaxanthin - A pigment (called a "carotenoid") found in plants and some bacteria, works to absorb free radicals and prevent damage caused by oxidation in cells and tissues. Because it can be absorbed into fatty tissue and cross the blood-brain barrier, it is considered to possibly have better antioxidant qualities than traditional ingredients such as Vitamin E.

Free Radicals

If free radicals are left to oxidize on their own, they can create carcinogens. The process can damage cell walls, cell structures and genetic material within the cells themselves. Damage to cells causes scar tissue and then the scar tissue either becomes benign or malignant (cancerous). The followings are some examples that causes free radicals:

1.Too much pressure that cause stress

2.Radiation process from sunlight or X ray.

3.Pollutant from cigarettes or vehicles

4.Food contains Hg and Cad.

Why Antioxidant with Natural Astaxanthin?

Natural Astaxanthin deactivate free radicals before they get a chance to oxidize and do harm to the body. Free radicals are the natural by-product of the processes happening within and among the various cells in the body. Environmental factors such as, tobacco smoke and radiation, also create free radicals.

There are two source of antioxidant, from our body and from our food intake. Balance is the key. Whenever the free radical and antioxidant inside the body is equal, free radical will not be dangerous.
