While researching for an article on life insurance, a question was raised on what happens when a loved one dies during the Christmas holidays. I started to contact funerals homes in Canada and the United States to get their advice on how to deal with a situation when someone loses a loved one during the holiday season. The Plot: During the Christmas holidays, your relatives are visiting from out of town. One of your relatives passes away during the festive season. The questions I raise are: 1) Do you contact the deceased's life insurance company right away? 2) Should you plan the funeral right away? 3) If I contact the life insurance company do I have to pay right away? I will be speaking with life insurance carriers, etc., trying to get answers to these questions over the next few days.
