A Case For James Bond

By: maxine greco

We all know that James Bond carried a beautiful, sleek attache case. Well, he isn't the only one. Attache cases are still popular with busy executives. It is the most organized way to carry files and papers. Attaché cases open up completely like a desk drawer, making everything accessible. There is also a file section on the top part for further organization. Additionally, they have pen loops, and business card holders in the top portion. Many attaché cases also have room for a PDA or cell phone, reading glasses, and many other incidentals. They are available in aluminum, all types of leather, and molded materials. The leather models are built around a wood frame for strength and shape. Attaché cases can be carried on to airplanes, along with your lightweight luggage carryon. They easily fit under the seat ahead of you. Elegant leather attaché cases are available from Dilana and Vantaggio. The Dilana cases are made out of sleek nappa leathers. They come in different widths to accommodate those that carry a few papers to those that carry the whole office. The standard widths are 3", 4" and 5" deep. They are also available in an expanding model that will increase the depth of the case from 4" to 5". That way, you can carry a slimmer case unless you need the extra room, when you'll just expand the case. They also make a 5" case with a desk inside. This allows you to write while traveling by bus, train or plane. It also makes a handy hidden area where you can tuck an extra shirt, etc., without anything being shown when you open the case.

The Vantaggio brand of attaché case is made of the beautiful Italian hand stained leather. These come in the standard widths of 3", 4" and 5". They also are available with a "French edge" which is the extended edge along the sides of the case for durability. This protects the leather from bangs and nicks when hurrying along. Vantaggio is also available with hand wrapped edging which gives it the elegant old world styling. This type of case is ideal for corporate gifts. The leather can have a brass plate engraved with company logos. It can also be engraved with an individual’s initials. All these cases are kept closed and fastened with a combination lock for security and safety. The lock can be programmed to any numbers you choose.

The aluminum case is probably the most well known as carried by James Bond. These cases are made by Zero Halliburton and come in the silver, gold, gunmetal or black finishes. They are very lightweight and durable. They always look elegant, even when carried next to your discount luggage. They are also available in styles, which will hold your laptop in an exceptionally thick, shock-absorbent micro-cell polyurethane foam interior. Some of these cases can also be carried by an add-on shoulder strap.

Samsonite is the manufacturer of the molded attaché case. These cases are made of durable ABS hard side shells with combination locks for durability and security. They have multiple organizational compartments, which accommodate documents, small electronics, and other business essentials and travel accessories. The patented hinge opens partially when upright or fully when laid flat. These cases are available in 4”, 5” and 6” widths. Handsome enough for the James Bonds of the world.
