Torn between the welfare of Audrey versus the possible spark of World War III, Jack struggles on whether or not to give in to the demands of Chang, the evil Chinese man who holds Audrey captive. In exchange for Audrey’s life, Chang demands for the circuit board, which will reveal the entire Russian defense secrets, to be taken off on one of the Russian nukes.
Desperate for help, Jack seeks the help of Chloe to get the information off the nukes. Though initially unwilling to help, she agrees to get the circuit information by accessing Morris’ screen. She sends Jack the info however Morris becomes aware that someone accessed his screen. Afraid to create noise, Chloe tells Morris everything about Jack’s dilemma with Audrey and Chang as well, just when Morris is about to call for security.
Unfortunately, Morris cannot keep the problem a secret so Chloe decides to tell Buchanan the whole story.
Later, Jack manipulates the armed guards at the warehouse, where they are holding the nuke, into allowing him to take the circuit board. Doyle interrupts Jack, handcuffing Jack and taking him under custody. Buchanan sympathizes with Jack’s explanation but does not allow Jack to go through with his plans. Jack speaks with President Palmer, vowing to do everything he can to keep Chang from obtaining the circuit. Finally, Palmer allows Jack to go through a suicide mission, strapping himself with a C-4.
